Got discussed earlier in this thread: Another nifty little trick to
for ex. hide links in "bad" themes comes here (stumbled upon it in wp
german forums today).

Hide a link in the translation files... <a href="http://example.com/
bad_link" style="background-color: #fff; color: #fff;">.</a> ...
(Includes theme authors that don't want people to delete their
backlink, but then without the style="".)
