I have seen it many times before that someone will work on a plugin
and then quit developing it.   By having a central reponsitory for
plugins and different versions, this will not happen.   People can
pick up on the development and continue on.

The plugins page is critical as there are many sites popping up to do
the same thing!   Not that this is a problem, but a complete central
list will keep everyone on the same page.   I would like to see
plugins and templates being up for download on the server.   This
would require a 'guideline' for uploading themes, but it would be
great!
