And what I mean is that everyone's copy is essentially the same.   
They'll have the same code and the same DB structure.  If the bug is  
a result of the way the code as written interacts with your  
particular server, a copy from someone else won't help.

There's been no official release of bbPress, yet.  There's several  
bugs that still need fixing, and I'm sure there's more we haven't  
caught yet.

All that said, if you do find a solution that works, we'd love to  
hear it.
