 In some cases function get_page_number_links will add a trailing "?"  or
 "&" to links that it generates which slowly corrupts the url as bbPress
 does not deal well with dangling "&" on urls.

 (for now it seems to deal with dangling "?" okay, maybe fix both the
 function and make it tolerate dangling "&" as well)
